KYLE COWLES

From a young age Kyle’s passion for baking was clear, taking fresh local ingredients near his home in rural Norfolk and producing baked goods for the local community. This encouraged him to follow his passion and get a part time job in a bakery.

He then went on to study catering at college whilst working as a chef in various restaurants and bakeries around the North Norfolk coast. Kyle spent the next 10 years developing his skills as a pastry chef and baker including working at Sandringham Royal estate, where he had the honour of producing baked goods for Her Majesty herself. He also completed a chocolate sculpture course at world leading chocolate company Callebaut and was recognised for his work within the county.

In 2019 he was invited to teach at the college where he studied to pass on his skills and industry experience onto the future chefs and bakers, this allowed him to discover another passion, which was teaching.  “What I enjoy most about teaching is the ‘lightbulb’ moment in a baker’s journey, when you really start to develop that intuition for it”. He aims to give keen bakers, little hints and nuggets of information to help make their bakes better or encourage new bakers to be confident and experiment with their bakes.
